The "OMG 100 people like me!" giveaway

The top row are some of the books you could win from
Book Depository as part of this giveaway!
Despite a minor setback last week I now have 101 wonderful followers! Thank you so much for reading my blog. I very much appreciate it. To show my appreciation, I'm going to hold an International Giveaway through Book Depository to any country that they have free shipping to. Which book might I win, I hear you ask? Well the list of books to pick from is the 2011 reading list for our book club:

January: The Year of the Flood by Margaret Atwood
February: Sarah's Key by Tatiana de Rosnay
March: Room by Emma Donoghue
April: Someone Knows my Name by Laurence Hill
May: The Lacuna by Barbara Kingsolver
June: Cleopatra's Daughter by Michelle Moran
August: Forgotten Garden by Kate Morton
September: The Tower, the Zoo and the Tortoise by Jill Stuart
November: The Glass Castle: A memoir by Jeanette Walls
December: The Book Thief by Markus Zusak
(There's no book for July as most folks travel home in that month here in Taiwan and October's book is not available through Book Depository).

In addition to this book, the winner will also receive a small package of goodies from me. To add a personal touch.

To enter, you simply have to comment in the comments section below and tell me which book you'd like and your contact details. Anyone can enter (within above stated postage restrictions) but those people who were already followers at the time I post this (I have the list) will have an automatic additional entry. I love it when new people follow me but I want you all to follow me because you like what you see, not because you want a free book so those who already followed for the love of it get the props on this giveaway ;)

This giveaway will be open for 2 weeks, closing at midnight Taiwan time (UTC+0800) on Thursday 12th May. I will announce the winner shortly thereafter. The books will be paid for by me and my decision to use Book Depository is purely so that I can post internationally.

  1. Hi, I know what you mean, I always feel pleased to log on and find I have a new follower (and a little sad if someone un-follows me).
I would love a copy of The year of the Flood, partly because I loved Oryx and Crake and partly because I want to read some more Margaret Atwood, my post about her poetry is my second most visited post and it is nice to know that she is being so widely read.
Congratulations on reaching 100, and keep up the good work, i always enjoy coming over and reading your reviews.
    much love martine

  2. Congratulations! I love it when I get new followers too.

I'm following you now - I didn't even realise I wasn't a follower. I follow you on Twitter and must have clicked through to some of your posts via tweets from you.

Your book club has great taste. In fact, I've already read 7 of the books on your list, and they were all good books.

On the picture I saw Battle Hymn of the Tiger Mother which I would love to read, but it's not in your list. So, as an alternative, I'd like Room. I'm the last person around to read it, I think.

  3. Oh boy! Congratulations my dear. So excited for you. I was going to ask for the October book but since it's not available, I'm going to ask for the Book Thief. I have read this book before and will read it again and again. I'd love to have my very own copy of it. :)

    Love ya.

Can I put my name in the hat for "Room" by Emma Donoghue?

I am currently on the library waiting list for this book and have been patiently waiting since January! I was the 450th person in line in January and now after 4 months I'm down to the 200ths person. Might get the book by Christmas if I'm lucky!! haha

Could I please put my name in the hat for "Room"

I requested it from the library in January and have been waiting very patiently. At first I was the 450th person in line and now after 4 months I'm down to being the 200th person! If I'm lucky I might get it by Christmas!!

  8. Of course 100 people like you. Your blog is great!!

I just checked and I never "followed" you, but have had your blog in my Google Reader for months. Whoops! Now you'll have one more follower. I know it doesn't count for an extra entry, but since I already read your blog, I'd love to boost your numbers. :)

I would love to win the Book Thief. I've read it and loved it, but I don't have a copy. Thanks for being so generous with the giveaway!

  9. Congrats, Kath!

I can't choose a book! This is why I can spend hours in the library and book stores, because I can't make up my mind.

So, if I am lucky enough to win I might just have to ask you to pick one for me :)

  11. Congrats ;) I follow your blog on Google Reader and have noticed that I'm not included on your Followers list (don't really know how that works :P).

If I'm lucky, I'd love to get "Someone Knows my name", as the last sentece of your review is "I definitely recommend this book." and I've read most of your other bookclub choices (I loved The Book Thief, which I also read for my bookclub last month).

Wishing you many more followers! :)

  13. Way to go on 100+ followers! If I were to pick a book, I think I'd go with Someone Knows My Name. Thank you for not listing any parenting books! I'm drowning in them!

  15. Congratulations Kath! Wow! I only had 7 followers for my PhD blog, and one of them was me!
Please could I put in a request for The Glass Castle: A memoir by Jeanette Walls. Sounds like my thing!
Also, can I recommend a book to you I read on holiday: 'The Reluctant Fundamentalist', by Moshin Hamid (2007). A gripping and delightfully easy read. :-)

  17. Yay, congrats on hitting 100! My follower numbers seem to fluctuate wildly. I would love a copy of Room by Emma Donaghue because, you know, everyone else seems to have read it and loved it.
