Some of my favourite sentences: Part IV

This nugget of wisdom comes from Jess Walter's novel The Zero, one of the post 9/11 novels I'm reading for my thesis.

"No kid ever choses to have his parents. They're just there when you wake up one day. And you can't just keep having sex and have more parents if these two don't work out."

Ah, ain't that the truth!

  1. Hey, I found your blog because you commented on mine! Thanks for that. I saw that you're working on a thesis of post-9/11 literature, and I have a book to recommend, although you've probably already heard of/read it: Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close by Jonathan Safran Foer. He also wrote Everything is Illuminated, but Extremely Loud is my favorite, a beautiful book.

  2. Hello!

Thanks for your comment and the book recommendation - I have heard of it and have it on my "to be read" list. It's good to hear that it's worth the read and others have enjoyed it though. Makes 'compulsory' reading seem less daunting!
